How to Plan an Adventurous Date

The best way to decide whether a date is the right one for you is to get out and do something. Even though online dating is as popular as the traditional style, don’t get tied to your desk and forget to get out and have some fun with that new love interest. Plan an adventurous date that will make the new relationship as fun as it is romantic.

Quality online dating services, like parship, use a scientific method to gather information about you that will help you find the most compatible mate. It’s a well-known fact that partners who enjoy hobbies and interests have a better chance of making the match a longterm success. Whether it’s sports and recreation or hanging in the front row of a major rock concert, plan a date that will be unforgettable and fun for both of you.

If you both like the outdoors, forget about a nice walk in the park. Plan for some rock climbing or trail biking. When is the last time you jumped off the high dive at your local swimming pool? Whatever you choose, try not to pick an activity that requires a great deal of training to do it successfully. You want your date to feel comfortable and willing to participate.

Since you’re just getting to know one another, good dating advice is to keep your adventure low cost. Pick something that has high adventure value, but won’t make a big dent in your bank account. It’s usually the free, impromptu activities that are the most memorable.

Getting Started in a Hobby

Hobbies are a great way to spend your spare time, relax and to take a mental break from life’s hassles. There are a variety of hobbies to choose from that match your personal interests.

Hobbies come in several forms, from collecting baseball cards, antiques, working with train sets to building models. Whichever one you choose, make sure that it is something you are passionate about and enjoy. Many hobbies are supported by local groups who meet regularly to build, discuss and enjoy a particular passion together. Clubs can range from model trains, RC cars, sports cards collectors and more. These are a great place to get advice and find resources to get started.

If you choose to collect a certain type of item, you want to start small and then build to more valuable items later. The important thing to keep in mind is the enjoyment factor, not just the value of the item. Get advice from an experienced collector about the best place to start. If you collect things such as antiques or sports cards you have to be aware of fakes that are produced. Learn how to recognize the genuine article and you will not invest a lot of money in a worthless item.

You can often get a starter set for stamp collecting and other smaller hobbies from various retailers. These give you all the basic materials that you need to get going at a reasonable price. This saves you time and money searching for them by letting you get started quicker in a hobby you enjoy.

Your journal can also serve as a portfolio during interviews with successful fashion companies. Preparing To Play A Sport – Being Physical Fit Is An Essential Requirement

Many adults who desire to play a sport after having settled down in life follow a predictable pattern. They start playing the sport and end up with an injury which puts an end to their desire. No middle age adult will think of making a professional debut after passing the prime of his or her physical life. However, one would think that such a person should not have any difficulty in playing the sport for leisure and fun, right?

Well, people often underestimate the importance of fitness in sporting activities. Irrespective of the sport you play, you must be physically fit at all times. A mental game like chess requires a lot of physical fitness. You must have the ability to sit in the same place and focus on the same set of moves again and again until you find chink in your opponent’s armor. This can be very tough for a person who cannot remain seated in one place for more than 15 minutes at a stretch.

If you wish to play a sport in your later years, you must focus on overall physical fitness. Do not focus on your stomach alone. Your legs and hands should be fit along with your shoulder and knees. These are the areas that bear brunt of the sporting activity. An injury in the beginning may make it very difficult for you to come back with the same intensity. This should be a shame because playing a sport will help you get rid of stress and improve physical fitness without working towards it. Stay fit at all times so that minor complications are avoided at a later date.

Taking Your Passion on the Road

The Rain Man!

Being a traveling gambler has all sorts of advantages. For one, you never know when you might wind up on the Titanic. It worked for Leonardo DiCaprio. For another, you never know when you might strike up an interesting conversation that leads to an enjoyable heist or other adventure. For a life where risk is no object, anything in the world is possible for you.

So it makes perfect sense for gamblers like you to carry around folding custom poker tables. While they might take up too much room to be carry on luggage, they will allow you to sate your gambling desire just about anywhere else. After all, when the mood strikes, who wants to wait long enough to go all the way to a real casino? By that point, lady luck might have left you. When it comes to passion, lady luck is a very temperamental individual. This temperament should suit a drifting gambler like yourself perfectly, though. She’ll flit across the room and back to you in no time.

And how better could you catch that drifting kiss of luck than with a poker table you can take with you anywhere? Even if your ship sinks today, all you need is one chip and one good hand and you’ll be back in the game in no time. After all, how can they possibly keep you down, as long as you have an open mind? You can always just stroll on over to the next town and try your luck again. Sooner or later it’s bound to work, even if you just can’t seem to win today.

Training for Trail Running

Many runners who have tired of running the same old track day in and day out turn to trail running. Trail running is running or jogging using a city or park trail. These trails will usually take you through the woods, along scenic paths and on a journey that is different than the regular track that most runners use.

Runners who make the switch to trail running will experience a difference in training. If you are considering making the switch here is a sample of what you should include in your daily training routine.

Lifting Weights

Trail running requires the use of various muscles in your legs. It is a good idea to strengthen those muscles by lifting weights. Not only will lifting weights strengthen the muscles but it will also make them more flexible and reduce your chance of receiving an injury while trail running.

Start Cycling

Whether is a stationary or regular bike, cycling can help improve the leg muscles that are needed for trail running.  Many trail runners will use cycling as a way to train in the winter when running outside is not an option.

Work on Inclines

Many trails that runners use will include small hills or inclines. Incline walking a running uses different muscles in the legs. To prepare for this most runners will work on running and walking on an incline. This can be done by using a stair stepper in the gym or actually getting outside and walking on the hills and incline.

By working on some of these training exercises you will be fully prepared to start your trail running when the weather warms up.

WE ARE THE BOARD

When is your body like a flat wooden board?  Actually, it never is, but that doesn’t stop the tens of thousands of body-surfers who hit the beaches year after year in search of the perfect wave.  Surfers are unique specimens, often risking life and limb to be chased down by thunderous waves the size of small buildings.  Bodysurfers are even rarer types.  One imagines the typical surfer standing near the shoreline, so giddy over the powerhouse waves rolling in that he doesn’t wait to get his board from the back of the truck.  His happy feet pound sand in a funky trot until the surfer is out in the waves, ready for adventure, sans surfboard.  The contemporary bodysurfer goes into the ocean with two items integral to a good ride, swimfins.  These fins look like deep sea flippers which have been truncated to only a few inches in length beyond the surfer’s foot.  Without them, even the best athlete is at the mercy of the sea; with them however, the bodysurfer can catch and keep abreast of some serious walls of water.

WORLD CLASS SURFING

If you’ve never tried bodysurfing, it’s one of life’s most simple and pure thrills.  Provided you’re a decent swimmer, any beach with waves of average size should do to get started.  Strap on your swimfins, waddle into the water and head for the breakers.  Keeping in front of the waves, catch one as it’s about to break and kick for your life as you swim toward the beach.  If you’ve timed it all correctly, you’re now in the wave, lifted by the sheer force of seawater, with your head poking out from the spray.  As always, the idea is to live to surf another day, so safety is key.  Make sure you know where the rip currents are and make it a social outing rather than going solo.

A LAKE WEST OF PHILLY

Whether we make our home in the city or the outskirts, we’re always looking for a getaway to the great outdoors.  A simple walk around the block or through the park may suffice in a pinch, and long distance vacations take planning and money.  If you live in the western suburbs of Philadelphia, though, you’re within range of Marsh Creek State Park.  Located in Chester County, south of the Pennsylvania Turnpike near Downingtown, Marsh Creek is known for its 535-acre lake.  The park itself spans some 1,700 acres, with picnic grounds, swimming pool and food pavilion.  It’s the lake, with its water sport attractions and fishing, that appeals to most of the visitors.

THE WATER ATTRACTION

Swimming in the lake is generally discouraged for a few reasons.  There are no lifeguards on duty to supervise bathers, and there are quite a few boats on the water during the busy season.  Those who prefer to play in the water, rather than on it, have access to the park’s guarded swimming pool during the normal pool season.  The folks at the boat rental building are more than happy to set you up with one of a few types of vessel.  Canoes, day sailers, kayaks, paddleboat and trimarans are all rentable at the park, and instruction is available.  There are even competitions scheduled during the year.  Visitors to the park may even bring their own boats, subject to a launch permit.

For those who like to fish, small motorboats can be rented as well.  The lake is home to bass, catfish, muskie, perch and sunfish.  A fishing license can be bought at your local sporting goods outlet.  Be sure to check with the park office for size limits and regulations.  For more information, go to www.marshcreeklake.com, or call the park office, (610) 458-5119.  Admission is free and the park is open from 8:00 a.m. to sunset.

COME SAIL AWAY!

Men and women have enjoyed water sports for centuries, and sailing on the open sea is one of the more exhilarating experiences around.  Running a sailboat, large or small, requires a measure of skill and tenacity, injected with a healthy dose of confident adventure.  Whether or not you can find port and starboard today shouldn’t put you off your pursuit of sailing as a hobby.  The skills can be learned and, with practice, your confidence will increase.  Daysailing can be just as enjoyable on an inland lake or waterway, though serious hobbyists would aspire to coastal cruising at least.  If you’ve got your mind set on crossing one of the great oceans, or a global circumnavigation, then be prepared to devote plenty of time to preparative study and practice.

WHERE TO START

We live in the age of information, so everything you need to know about piloting watercraft can be learned from publications and internet video tutorials.  A reputable sailing school, however, will likely be the way to go before long, especially if you’re the type who learns best in a group or has to pay to commit.  Good sailors are invaluable sources of knowledge and great company to boot.

Once you’ve mastered the myriad knots you’ll use and know the difference between beam reach and close hauled, you may be thinking of buying your first sailboat.  Depending on your desired usage and budget, there are generally two considerations for a beginner boat.  A Sunfish or similar boat is excellent for calm waters and easy solo enjoyment.  If you’re hankering for something larger than a fifteen foot daysailer, do the right thing and start reading the online boating forums for updated opinions from experienced sailors.

FLY YOUR KITE!

The kite hang glider is readying for being a k...

Birds fly, bugs fly, inflation is soaring but that’s a different matter.  If you really want to know the glories and thrill of flying, there’s nothing at all like hang gliding.  Imagine a day in the park with an airborne kite, high above the treetops.  Now imagine You strapped to the kite; that’s virtually what we’re talking about here.  The hang glider literally hangs under a kite, also known as a wing or a glider.  The fact that the glider can weigh in excess of 50 pounds is a small issue.  Once you’re harnessed under it, running along a downgrade into the wind, you’ll be shedding pounds faster than a chocoholic in a cabbage patch.  Or so it will seem.  Hang glider designs have come a long way since they first took serious flight in the late 1800s, and modern construction makes the most of achieving lift.  So now that you’re hooked on the idea of skimming over hill and dale, where does one actually go to hang and glide?

HANGING AROUND

Hang gliding is a skill easily learned, but practice makes perfect.  A first-timer should find the nearest outfit offering lessons and sign up.  People who glide come from all corners of life, so you needn’t feel intimidated.  The United States Hang Gliding & Paragliding Association has helpful information online, as does the BHPA for the United Kingdom.  It is recommended that a student learn the basics of navigation at a safe altitude, and do a few tandem flights from higher launch points with an instructor.  By then, you’d have a fair idea of what the sport demands, and you may even start looking for a kite of your own.
